It allows you to discover the full scope of training for a qualified diver and how to adapt specialties to your explorations.

At the end of this fun and stimulating training, you will have tested five specialties, so you will be able to choose which specialty programs suit your expectations.

Who is the SSI Advanced Open Water course designed for?

Are you an Open Water certified diver and interested in advanced diver training to increase your level of expertise?

The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is designed for anyone wishing to progress and advance their scuba diving skills. With an SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, you will have explored five specialties and improved your overall diving level. Furthermore, you will possess expertise shared by experienced divers worldwide and recognized by all dive centers, both locally and in distant waters.

Do you want to discover four specialties through exploration dives up to 30m deep while having fun, with an experienced instructor, and following demanding teaching standards? Do you want to dive safely and develop your confidence? Do you want to become a truly recognized diver? The SSI Advanced Open Water course is for you!

What are the prerogatives of an SSI Advanced Open Water diver?

Once you hold the SSI Advanced Open Water certification, you retain your Open Water privileges but demonstrate a high level of diving proficiency. You can dive at dive centers worldwide, to a depth of 18 meters (20 meters in France when accompanied by a guide), with other divers of the same or equivalent level.

What are the prerequisites for registering for the SSI Advanced Open Water course?

You must be a certified SSI Open Water diver or equivalent. You must be able to demonstrate good health by presenting a medical certificate at the start of the course stating that there are no contraindications to scuba diving; this certificate can be issued by a general practitioner. For divers between 12 and 18 years old, parental authorization is required.

What is the curriculum for the SSI Advanced Open Water training?

The SSI Advanced Open Water course allows you to increase your skill level through the discovery of four specialties. Two specialties are mandatory: deep and navigation.

  • The wreck diving specialty: you discover wreck diving through fun exercises.

  • The Perfect Buoyancy/Stabilization specialty: this is the key to becoming a skilled diver. Through fun exercises, you'll discover different methods to improve your buoyancy control.

  • The Enriched Air Nitrox Level 2 (40%) / Nitrox specialty: increase exploration time and safety margins.

  • The Deep Diving specialty: Exploration up to 40m deep. You will discover the underwater environment down to 40m!

  • The technical equipment specialization: an introduction to different equipment technologies and their quality levels. You will be able to choose the equipment that best suits your needs.

How do the dives take place?

Before each dive, your instructor will give you a briefing explaining the exercises, tips for improvement, hand signals for underwater communication, and all the safety instructions to follow. Once underwater, your instructor will introduce you to various diving specialties through different techniques, all in the waters of the Mediterranean, in the heart of the Calanques National Park.
